Work permits and isolations
The work permit frames a hazardous intervention: it lists the hazards, the precautions, the protective equipment, the isolations to perform, and carries the signatures of those responsible. Softic GMAO manages it from draft to closure, on the site and on mobile.
Permit types
Hot work, cold work, confined space, electrical work, lifting, radiography, excavation, working at height. Each type has a template (Administration > Permit templates): default hazards and precautions, PPE, mandatory gas test or not, default validity duration and standard checklist. The administrator adapts the templates to the site's procedures.
Creating a permit
From a work order (Permits > New permit) or from Work > Work permits: type, linked work order, location, validity dates, hazards, precautions and PPE (prefilled by the template). The template's checklist is copied. The permit starts as Draft with a number PT-year-000000.
Isolations (LOTO)
The Isolations tab lists the isolations to perform before the work: type (electrical, mechanical, process, hydraulic...), identifier, description, padlock or device, state (to do, applied, removed), by whom and when. A permit can only be activated if all its isolations are applied, and can only be closed if they are all removed.
Checklist, gas test and signatures
- Checklist items are ticked as you go; mandatory items block activation.
- If the template requires it, the gas test must be recorded (result and time) before activation.
- Signatures are nominative and time-stamped: Requester, Issuer, Area authority, Performer, Closer. Activation requires the issuer and the area authority; on mobile, the performer signs in the name of their account.
Lifecycle
Draft → Requested (submission) → Approved (supervisor or administrator, or approval circuit, for example for hot work permits) → Active (work authorised, during validity) → Closed. An active permit can be Suspended (alarm, change of conditions) then reactivated; Rejected and Cancelled end the circuit. Non-permitted transitions are not shown.
The Permit.BlockWorkWithoutPermit rule prevents a "permit required" work order from moving to In progress without an active permit; it can be relaxed in the settings for sites that manage permits outside the CMMS.
Printing and follow-up
Print produces the permit PDF (hazards, precautions, isolations, checklist, signature boxes). The dashboard counts active permits; the list filters by status, type and work order; the Circuits chapter explains how to impose an additional validation per permit type.
