Shutdowns
A planned shutdown (turnaround, annual shutdown, unit outage) groups a set of work orders to perform during an unavailability window. Softic GMAO steers its scope, its freeze and its progress.
Creating a shutdown
Work > Shutdowns > New shutdown: code (for example AR-2026-U100), name, site and unit concerned, planned dates, responsible person, description. The initial status is Planned.
Building the scope
The Work orders tab of the record lets you add existing work orders (multiple selection from the site's open work orders, filterable by unit, type and priority) or create them directly in the shutdown (Shutdown type). Work orders in the scope carry the shutdown reference; the planning shows them in the shutdown window.
Freezing the scope
When preparation is complete (parts procured, permits prepared, resources planned), the responsible person moves the shutdown to Scope frozen: no work order can be added or removed without returning to Planned. If an approval circuit is configured for shutdowns (for example "planner review then supervisor validation"), the Submit to circuit button replaces the direct freeze; the freeze is applied at the final approval.
Executing and following up
Once In progress, the record shows progress: completed work orders over total, actual hours over estimated, any delay, blocked work orders (on hold or without permit). Lists refresh as mobile entries come in. The shutdown becomes Completed when all work orders are completed or cancelled; unperformed work orders can be detached to be rescheduled.
Advice
- Create the shutdown early and attach the preventive work orders generated in the window: the generation job respects the due date, the attachment is done by hand or during forced generation from the record.
- Use criticality classes A and B to prioritise the preparation of permits and isolations.
